Daily activity:
Thursday: water temp 82.8 SSE 18-21mph in the a.m. / 84.0 S 15-20 in the p.m. The clarity was good. We had a couple of rainstorms that passed through in the afternoon with heavy rain and S winds at 22 – 30 mph. The morning saw a couple of small King Mackerel and Spanish Mackerel. The afternoon bite was a little better with 5 small King Mackerel and a few Spanish Mackerel. Then late afternoon, Allan decked a very nice King. There was an all-day Bonita bite that was crazy. There were more than 50 Bonita decked, and lots more lost. They ranged from around 6-pounds to 14-pounds 10-ounces. There were several times that 4 fish were being fought at once. Here is a sample of anglers with their catch.




Friday: water temp 83.7 S 10-15mph in the a.m. / 86.5 SW 7-13mph in the afternoon. The clarity was good. There were three small King Mackerel and a few Spanish Mackerel in the morning. Lots of big Bonita were caught…over 40. Bill H. decked a big (for the pier) Mahi. The afternoon started slow with a few King Mackerel. Two were undersize, one was lost to “Flipper”, Wesley decked his first pier King and Ethan decked a nice one. Midafternoon, Cuba hooked a big King that took two long runs. Unfortunately, it shot the pilings and was cut off. Late afternoon brought several more Kings and a few Spanish. There were tons of live bait available consisting of Cigar Minnows, Alewives and Spanish Sardine.





Saturday: water temp 84.6 SW 4-7mph in the a.m. / 87.8 WSW 5-10 in the p.m. The water clarity was good. Several King Mackerel and Spanish Mackerel were caught. A couple of Sailfish were spotted, There was lots of Cigar Minnows, Spanish Sardine and Alewives available for live bait,
Sunday: water temp 85.1 W 9-12mph on the a.m. / 87.6 WSW 12-15 The water was clean. About a dozen King Mackerel, a few Spanish Mackerel and a couple of Bonita were caught. Hachid hooked a large King only to have “Flipper” eat it leaving him only the head to retrieve. A couple of Tarpon were hooked. Lots of live bait was available – Cigar Minnows, Spanish Sardine and Alewives. The pier was already crowded at 07:00 am.
Monday: water temp 83.3 NW 9-12mph in the a.m. / 86.9 WSW 12-15mph in the p.m. There were several King Mackerel, and a few Spanish Mackerel caught in the morning. The afternoon brought more King Mackerel (around 15), Spanish Mackerel, a Bonita, Two Sailfish bites with one hooked and Jack Crevalle, Danny decked the only Bonita. A number of anglers caught Kings. Jared, visiting from Winder, Ga., Caught a nice King and fought another bigger fish to the gaff, only to have the hook pull. Midafternoon, a school of big Jack Crevalle came in chasing bait. Five were hooked simultaneously. After an intense fight and many maneuvers untwisting lines, all five were decked. The largest weighed 28 pounds, 4-ounces. The lucky anglers were John C., David Z., Bill K., Jacob J., and David P. A short time later, Jorge Z. hooked a “smoker” King that took a screaming run. Jorge was able to bring the 32-pound fish to the gaff. A couple of Red Drum were caught in the shallows. There were Cigar Minnows, Spanish Sardine and Alewives available for live bait.


Tuesday: water temp 82.8 NW 8-10mph in the a.m. / 84.9 WSW 10-15mph in the p.m. The water was clean. There were several King Mackerel in the morning but only one bigger one. Joe C. decked a 25-pound King. There were a few Spanish Mackerel. The afternoon brought a few more small Kings and one “Axe Handle” Spanish Mackerel. Brayden decked a Spanish that was bigger than a couple of the small Kings. Live bait was available- Cigar Minnows, Spanish Sardine and Alewives.

Wednesday: water temp 81.1 N 5mph in the a.m. / 84.4 S 7-10mph in the p.m. The water was clean There were two Bonita in the very early am. The water was flat most of the day with very little activity, A few Spanish Mackerel were caught throughout the day. Baby Bonita were active but only a couple were caught.
Red Tide status: The red tide organism, Karenia brevis, was not observed in samples collected from or offshore of Escambia, Santa Rosa, Bay, Franklin, Levy, Hernando, or Pasco counties..
